To Free and Love Myself is a short Twine game focused on the nonbinary lovers Miguel and Harper, who are embarking on a journey to kill an evil monster plaguing their land. This game was initially made for the Queer and Trans Games course (ARTG 129) at UC Santa Cruz.

In making this project, I aimed to tell a story that reflected my experience as a Chicane nonbinary lesbian, while also having a fantasy flair to it. I also wanted to convey a message that queer people don’t have to face the terrors of the world alone and aren’t weak for needing support from others. I’m really glad that I got to put my experiences – the anxieties and joys that come with transitioning, the love I have for my partner, aspects of my culture – into this game. I hope that you enjoy playing through my game as well!
